At Mallow Community National School we believe in every child achieving their full potential.
4th, 5th and 6th classes are at a vital in your child’s development. At this stage your child is learning the skills to become a confident, independent young person. They are learning to make choices and decisions for themselves. These skills are taught by giving children the opportunity to critically evaluate events for themselves. We provide a safe and secure environment for our pupils to develop confidence and self esteem.
A confident pupils is one who has a chance to explore their gifts and talents and discover their passions. Pupils are given opportunities to enter art competitions, sports competitions, play music, sing, take part in local community actions and quizzes and get involved with initiatives such as The Green Flag
and the Tidy Towns. Within the school day they have opportunities to take on roles of responsibility with the class jobs list. Jobs such as classroom monitor, librarian, display manager, IT manager involve the chance to take on a challenge and lead a team.
Academically pupils develop rapidly at this age. Each pupil has a different level that is his/her best. This is the academic level we strive for. Your child will cover a broad range of subjects. Project work is a key component of this stage of learning.
Pupils are prepared for a smooth transition to secondary school with introductions to time tables, organizing and taking responsibility for their own learning.
